Georginas 21st

This is a bit of catchup - Georginas 21st was actually in February!.

As we probably have more family and Georgina has a lot of friends down in Stellenbosch, we decided to have her 21st party there. We had it Skilpadvlei, a restaurant just outside Stellenbosch, and the theme was to dress in the letter 'G' - we had gardeners, golfers, gigolos and even grandpas. Great fun

Here are all the family at the party.

Gene and Georgina, they are looking more like each other now.

William and Georgina - WIlliam flew in from Grahamstown for the party along with cousins Harriet and George. William has probably changed the most and is now the tallest in the family.

Me with Georgina

and finally our family together.

Now that the kids are away from home these pictures are getting harder and harder to take.

Fires in the Cape

Looks like a cold winter scene, but it was probably 25 deg at least and this is result of the fires that raged on the mountains of the Cape, on the way to Hermanus.

The road is a combination of light grey sand and ash.

Wiide angle

Got a new wide angle lens and love the way it does landscapes. These rocks are normally under water, but this was a spring low tide - thats when we fetch the oysters and mussels. The rocks are really that bright green

Here is a whole microcosm in a single rock pool, and some interesting rock shapes.

East Coast sunrises

Better late than never, but we had a great holiday at Cefani near East London over Christmas and New Year and being on the east coast, it means that the sun rises over the sea. So, i got up early on Christmas morning and joined Gene walking on the beach and caught this sunrise. This is a normally windy and high seas coastline, so this is very calm.

Then a few days later, I got up early again and had we some champagne and watched the sun rise on the New Year, except it didn't rise - the sea was again remarkably calm - never seen it this calm before. Time was 5am.
